Castor oil (Castor Oil Refined) is a versatile vegetable oil obtained from castor seeds. In its refined form, the oil is lighter in colour, virtually odourless, and is ideal for cosmetics.
Castor oil is known for its high content of ricinoleic acid, which gives it moisturising, emollient and protective properties. Thanks to its thick consistency, the oil helps to form a protective layer on the skin, which helps to retain moisture and protect the skin from drying out.
In natural cosmetics, castor oil is particularly often used for hair, eyebrows and eyelashes as it helps to make hair, eyebrows and eyelashes stronger and shinier.

Use in soap
Melt and pour the soaps (M&P):
- Add up to 1-3% of the soap mix
- Improves the lathering and conditioning properties of the soap
- Excessive amounts can make the soap soft
Cold and hot process soaps (CP/HP):
The recommended amount is 3-10% of the fat phase
Gives to soap:
- a rich and creamy foam
- improved foam stability
- a more moisturising result
- often used in combination with coconut oil to achieve a balance between cleansing and conditioning.
