Shea Butter (Refined Shea Butter) is one of the most prized plant butters in natural cosmetics. It is derived from the nuts of the shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa) and in refined form it is white, odourless and neutral, making it an excellent base for a variety of cosmetic products.
Shea butter is solid at room temperature, but melts on contact, providing immediate softening and moisturising action.
It is rich in fatty acids (oleic and stearic acid), vitamins A, E and F and phytosterols, which give it strong restorative, anti-inflammatory and protective properties.

Due to its neutral fragrance, it blends well with other oils, extracts and fragrances.
Use in soap
Melt and pour the soaps (M&P):
Add up to 1-3%
- Improves the conditioning and moisturising properties of soap
- Gives a luxurious and soft skin feeling
- Excessive amounts can make the soap soft
Cold and hot process soaps (CP/HP):
The recommended amount is 5-15% soap grease.
Gives to soap:
- hardness
- moisturising and conditioning properties
- Does not produce a strong lather – combine with coconut oil or castor oil for a large bubble lather.
Use in massage products
- Suitable for massage baths and body lotions
- Melts slowly and evenly on the skin
- Provides deep hydration and protection
- Particularly suitable for dry and sensitive skin.
