New borax-free candle holders

The SHW series of pre-bleached candle holders are made of 100% pure natural cotton, on a metal base and 12 cm high. Suitable for use in glass candles and votives. They burn evenly with minimal soot and no fungus.

The SHW series of candle holders are designed to provide professional burning quality for both home candle makers and large scale production. They are FLAT-type wicks that are pre-waxed, comfortably mounted on a metal base and made from 100% pure natural cotton. The height is 12 cm.

What is “cleaned cotton”?

The cotton from which these pastes are made is specially cleaned and bleached to remove natural oils, dyes and dirt. This process makes the cotton uniformly white, soft and clean, ensuring that the wick burns evenly, cleanly and without any extraneous odours or smoke. This makes the wick particularly well suited to the production of high quality scented and coloured candles.

SHW stoves are characterised by clean and stable combustion – smoke and soot formation is minimal and “mushrooming” is virtually eliminated. Our own tests Nature Wax C3 with soy wax (6% fragrance load + liquid dyes) have shown that these waxes burn very well, providing an even flame and good odour diffusion.

Suitability and tested results

The SHW60 and SHW80 differ mainly in the size of the glass to which they are best suited. For example, on the 10012, the SHW80 worked perfectly, while on the 10036 and 10022, two SHW60s worked best.

Why choose a borax-free wick?

Traditionally, borax was used in the processing of wicks, but this substance is classified as a Substances of Very High Concern for Health and the Environment (SVHC ) in the European Union. The SHW series wicks are 100% borax-free (BF-32 treatment), which means:

• the candle is safer for your health – no borax residues are produced when burning,

• the product is more environmentally friendly,

• meets today’s stringent safety and quality requirements.
